Scott Honig – USPTA Director of Tennis

A native of Greenwich, Connecticut and a USPTA Elite Professional, Scott has been involved in the tennis industry for more than 25 years.  He grew up idolizing some of the best players in the game: McEnroe, Borg, Connors, and his all-time favorite, Pete Sampras.  His love of the game led him to play Division II tennis at Southern New Hampshire University.  While at SNHU Scott held the #1 singles position for 2 seasons and was the winner of the New England Collegiate Conference Doubles Championships.  From college, Scott became certified by the Unites States Professional Tennis Association and secured a position at the Ivan Lendl Tennis Center in New York.  Scott was even lucky enough (or unlucky enough) to step on the court with Ivan a few times.  For the next 10 years Scott held positions at numerous facilities and country clubs around the Connecticut and New York City areas.  In 2001-2003 Scott spent the winters teaching tennis at Addison Reserve Country Club in Delray Beach Florida.  Addison Reserve consistently ranks in the top 10  among 125 Platinum Country Clubs in the nation.  In 2005 Scott decided to relocate to the tennis mecca of the nation- Atlanta, GA.  For 7 years Scott was the Director of tennis at Fieldstone, a 12-court swim & tennis community located in Cumming, GA.  Scott also spent 2 years as the Senior Tennis Professional at White Columns Country Club in Milton, GA.

Scott has a passion for customer service and introducing the wonderful game of tennis to as many people as possible.  Scott’s on-court teaching philosophy is simple; have as much fun as possible without letting the fun get in the way of developing the student.  Conversely, work with each player with a strong developmental purpose, but in a way that is always enjoyable.  Scott believes there is no single “right” way to play the game of tennis.  You are totally free to both invent and reinvent yourself daily, and put your own signature squarely on each and every ball struck, at best in a perfect synergy of the physical, mental, emotional, and even spiritual uniqueness of your being.  In his free time Scott enjoys playing platform tennis, hiking in the woods, birdwatching, and spending time with his children, Ellie and Kyle.
